1. Application of Electric Melting Furnace
The crucible melting furnace is applicable to melting of ferrous metal and alloy of low melting point.
2. Structural Introduction
The electric melting furnace consists of the following three parts: furnace body, electrical
heating and control system, and hydraulic tilting system.
2.1 Furnace Shell
The furnace shell of crucible melting furnace is made from steel plates and sectional steel in a
shape of a round column. The joining areas are closely welded.
2.2 Lining of Electric Melting Furnace
For side wall, the lining of the side wall includes the silicate aluminum fiber block,
superlight 0.6g/cm3 refractory brick, and filling vermiculite powder. The heating
components are OCr27A17MO2 high-resistance alloy strips.
For crucible melting furnace bottom, it is built with once-forming casting material with a long service
life and a high strength.
2.3 Heating System of Electric melting furnace
a)heating components—high-resistance wires (1 zone control);
Control system: temperature controller (imported from Taiwan, 2 pieces),
electronic power regulator, contactor, relay.
Temperature sensing component: thermal coupling (2 pieces in together,
1 for measuring the hearth atmosphere temperature and another for measuring
the molten aluminum temperature)
Power supply prepared by the buyer:
Power supply: 3-phase 5-wire , 380V±10%, 50Hz±3 Hz;
Control power: 220V±10%,50Hz±3 Hz.
2.4 Graphite crucible
The graphite crucible used for the electric melting furnace is of Vesuvius brand.
The crucible size is 750*900mm (outer diameter*height). The crucible has a
life of 6 months or more depending on the customer’s working conditions.
2.5 Electrical control system (PID control)
2.5.1 main technical parameters
a) working voltage: 3 phases, AC, 380V;
b) control method: manual potentiometer regulation or automatic control signal of 0-5VDC;
c) soft start-up function: moves started after 0.5 second;
d) temperature control accuracy: ±3℃( under standard working conditions)
e) rated power: both manually and automatically regulated;
2.5.2 main electrical components
a) control cabinet, 1 piece;
b) temperature controller, Taiwan origin, 2 pieces (one controller with PID regulation).
c) power regulator, 1 set;
d) low voltage electrical components, 1 set;
e) hydraulic control system, 1 set;
f) thermal coupling, 2 pieces (the piece measuring the molten aluminum temperature is sheathed in a
protection casing pipe);

2.6 emergency outlet hole
In order to prevent leakage, there is an emergency outlet hole designed at the bottom of the side wall.
